Probably the most important fishing attire is a brimmed hat. A hat will protect you from sunburn, keep you warm, dry and shade your eyes for better vision. Hats also protect you from mosquitoes and blackflies. While "baseball" caps are popular, even more useful are hats with an all-around brim.
Summer fishing is what most people try first. Ideal conditions provide a pleasant day out requiring little more than beachwear to keep you comfortable. Sun protective clothing will prevent sunburn, clothing is better than sunblock as sunblock may contaminate lures and will repel fish. Conditions can change so bring along or dress in layers that will keep you dry and warm.
Spring and Fall fishing are both popular because the bite is more active with cooler temperatures. Variable weather requires fishers to wear layers. The inner layer should wick away perspiration. The outer layer should be waterproof.
Winter fishing can be challenging but the prepared fisher will be comfortable for as long as the fish are biting. A warm hat is a must. Next are insulated waterproof boots. Dress in layers.
